Walleye Fishing, Orman Dam, Belle Fouche, South Dakota (up dated 3/25/25)
Cost to fish with us is $200 for one person, An additional $50 for each person ( max guests 4 adults)
Max $250 for a family of two parents and children
How we fish
If you like to fish walleye's we have the spot for you, Orman dam is only a half hour from Spearfish and is one of the best kept secrets in South Dakota. Mike and Rochelle are primarily Pluggers but have the gear to fish any way that you would like. Mike and Rochelle have fished this lake for 40 years and know all the in's and out's of where the fish are at any given time of the year. The reason that they like plugging is the action is some what nonstop with the fish being generally larger than what the live baiters catch. With three or more people in the boat we have come up with a system that we can run four rods off the back of the boat and two off the front of the boat. The system that we use works great and and always accounts for a good percentage of our daily catch. If you prefer we can also fish live bait style with bottom bouncers, jigs, or slip bobbers. An average day may consist of catching as many as 50 eyes during the peak part of the season. The limit is two walleyes per person with the new changes put into place this year. Each fisherman may keep one fish over 20 inches and one under 20 but over 15. You can keep two fishing total with two fish over 15 but under 20 also. We also have some great bonus fish in silver bass, small mouth bass, perch, crappies, catfish, and drum.
Boat description and fishing gear
A description of our boat would be a 2015 19' Super Hawk Crestliner, 115 horse Mercury four stroke outboard, 9.9 horse Mercury outboard, electric trolling motor. We have the capabilities of running 6 plugging line counter reels, Two jigging or bottom bouncer poles per person. or two slip bobber poles depending on how we are fishing. We have on board approximately 24 rod reel combo's at all times. The Rochelle #2 seats 6 comfortably, 2 live wells, large cooler, Garmin GPS & Lorance fish locator, marine band radio. It's very stable in rough water with a deep aluminum V-hull, designed for 8 passengers. A variety of life jackets are provided or you can bring your own. Mike wears a auto inflate jacket at all times for the safety of himself and his guests.
Every thing else
Every thing is included in a on board sandwich lunch, water, and all the gear to catch a pile of fish. Alcoholic drinks are welcome and we can provide plenty of cooler space for them. We will clean and pack your fish on ice when we are done. MIke will even fry up your catch if you are staying with our friends the new owners at the Secret Garden Bed and Breakfast. If you like to camp there is the Spearfish City park and right on Orman dam there is Rocky Point State Park with full facilities. You can camp on BLM land (Bureau of Land Management) for free. We can pick up up at your camp site on the lake and deliver you home when we limit out.

Fishing reports
Another great summer at Orman dam, we caught many limits with the bite being a late start. We caught fish into August which is unusual for our area. The only thing that stopped us from catching fish was the gizzard shad hatch that occurs late summer each year. Now time to wait for some solid ice to fish on.

Some early May walleye limits for sure brought bring out the smiles.
These fine gentlemen had to endure a time of finding fish but when we did it is for sure that they did okay. Had a monster walleye on that we lost at the boat. When we have three or more people in the boat we run 6 plugging rods at once.
Daughter, Trisha, took some friends fishing with great luck as she really likes to fish walleyes and eat them too.
Father and son day of fishing. Was a tough bite right after a big thunder storm on the lake. For the most part we were lucky with the weather all summer.
It was a family affair with the girls having a blast pulling in taco fish. We call it that as the under fish make great fish tacos.
My buddy Frank was here for a short visit on the way to Colorado summer stay. He is a great ocean fisherman and had a blast on stormin' Orman.
We got into some really nice fish, to bad the guide did not notice that he had flicked off the auto live well pump.

Second half of a group of families in the hills for vacation. They caught the fish to have a big walleye feed for every one after Bergie got done cleaning.

The weather at Storm n Orman was tough on this trip with sun shine to rain but the fish were hungry.

We only managed to catch a few fish that we could keep but it is all about the catching. Orman fishing really turns on around the first of June.

Here we find MIke and Rochelle with another catch for dinner in front of the 20' Rochelle. Note that the Rochelle has 165 horse inboard drive with a 8 horse kicker motor. It is completely set up for comfort with room for 6 and can pull plugs with 6 line counter rod/reels at once.
